Finding Strength in God: Lessons from Gideon's Journey Day 1
Finding Your True Hiding Place
DevotionalWe all have our favorite hiding spots when life gets tough. Maybe it's binge-watching shows, throwing ourselves into work, or scrolling endlessly through social media. While these places might feel safe temporarily, they're like umbrellas in a hurricane - they just don't provide the protection we really need. Our problems are still waiting for us when we emerge, often bigger than before. But there's a better way.
Bible Verse
Then the angel of the LORD came and sat beneath the oak tree at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash of the clan of Abiezer. Gideon son of Joash was threshing wheat at the bottom of a winepress to hide the grain from the Midianites. - Judges 6:11
Reflection Question
What are your current 'hiding places,' and how effective have they been in truly addressing your challenges?
Quote:
The only good hiding place is when you hide yourself in the Lord Jesus Christ. You can't hide from problems, you can't hide from people, you can't hide from struggle, because it'll be there when you come out of your hiding place. But you can hide in Jesus Christ, you can hide in God, you can be there with him even in your moment of weakness.
Prayer
Lord, help me recognize the temporary shelters I've built and give me the courage to find my true refuge in You. Thank You for being my perfect hiding place. Amen.
