Finding God's Plan in Life's Hardships: Day 1
God Has a Plan for That
Devotional
Life can change in an instant. One phone call, one text message, one doctor's appointment can turn our world upside down. In these moments, we often wonder if God has abandoned us or if our suffering is somehow part of His divine plan. Joseph's story in Genesis reminds us that hardship isn't necessarily evidence of God's absence. Despite being his father's favorite son, Joseph experienced betrayal, slavery, false accusation, and imprisonment. Yet through it all, God remained present and active. When we face difficulties, it's tempting to believe that everything happening to us is part of some grand divine blueprint. But this perspective can sometimes cause more harm than healing. The truth is more nuanced and more comforting. God doesn't always orchestrate our suffering, but He always has a plan to work through it. Our hardships may result from others' choices or the broken world we live in, but God's redemptive power isn't limited by these circumstances. Today, whatever situation you find yourself in, remember that God hasn't abandoned you. He sees you, He's with you, and He has a plan to work through your current reality.
Bible Verse
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11
Reflection Question
What difficult situation are you facing right now that you need to trust God has a plan for, even if you can't see it yet?
Quote
"I don't want to tell you this morning that what you're going through is part of God's plan. Although it might be. I don't want to tell you that the hardship that you face is all part of some grand way that God is orchestrating to get you where he wants you to be. But I do want to tell you that wherever you're at, God has a plan for that."
Prayer
Heavenly Father, when life changes in an instant and I feel lost, help me remember that You have a plan. Even when I don't understand my circumstances, give me the faith to trust that You are working for my good. Thank You for Your promise of hope and a future. Amen.
